Michael Spence, Nobel Laureate in Economics 2001, and Simone Manganelli, economist at ECB, were the two main speakers of the 54th international conference promoted by the I.S.E.O. Institute together with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Brescia.
The public meeting was organized in memory of Franco Modigliani, founder of the I.S.E.O. Institute, and it was focused on an extreme topical issue such as “Pandemic, war. Compound risks in uncertain geopolitical scenarios”.
Over the last two years international economy was affected by huge and unpredictable events which are traditionally used to occur throughout an entire century: first the pandemics, and then the war in Ukraine. Financial markets have been upset by a high level of uncertainty, favoured by unstable geopolitical scenarios. In such a context, Michael Spence and Simone Manganelli described the main risks for global economy and the markets, offering a medium and long term analysis.
The international conference, which was introduced by professor Roberto Savona (University of Brescia) right after the institutional greetings given by the rector Maurizio Tira and the deputy chairman of the I.S.E.O. Institute Riccardo Venchiarutti, was attended by nearly 150 delegates. Among the audience, academics, postgraduate students, entrepreneurs, journalists . Also the I.S.E.O. Summer School 2022 participants, coming from all over the world, were among the delegates.
