The I.S.E.O Institute’s 50th international public conference in the memory of Franco Modigliani was held at Università degli studi di Brescia on 22nd June 2017. The conference was held during the I.S.E.O Summer School 2017, a prestigious summer school reserved to post-graduate students, researchers and young economist from all over the world.
The conference, titled “Innovation and Intellectual property”, was chaired by Professor Roberto Savona from University of Brescia and featured a panel of well-acknowledged speakers: Jean Tirole (Toulouse School of Economics, Nobel Laureate in Economics 2014), Michele Boldrin (Washington University in St. Louis) and Jacques Darcy (European Investment Fund).
In the conference, topical themes such as the bond between innovation, intellectual property and patents were investigated. Discussion sparked as each speaker went further into details of this macro theme using his specific approach and point of view. Tirole discussed “Intellectual property and public policy”, while Boldrin examined “Intellectual Property, competition and income inequality” and Darcy spoke about “Innovation and IP Europe at a crossroads”.
