Summer School featured 7 outstanding lecturers including two Nobel Prize winners Peter Diamond and Michael Spence, Former President of European Commission Romano Prodi and professors from top universities such as Paul Collier (Oxford), Charles Goodhart (LSE) and Dimitra Petropoulou (Sussex University). Also former economic advisor of President Clinton and the current President of KeyBridge Research Robert Wescott was lecturing here once again.

Before the 2012 edition started, the high specialized website Inomics has included the I.S.E.O Summer School in the top ten list of the best Summer School in Economics in the world ( here below you can download the full top ten as published by Inomics).

The ISEO Summer School 2012 gathered 78 participants from 34 countries from all 6 inhabited continents! The intelligent and open-minded yet diverse group of students came from 60 universities, having backgrounds not only in the field of economics, but also in the field of law or international relations. This group spent a week in the quiet and picturesque town of Iseo in Northern Italy on the foothills of the Alps. During the week they had an utmost learning experience but also plenty of time for leisure and fun.

For Professor Peter Diamond, a Nobel Laureate from 2010, this was the first time in Iseo. As he spent few days in Iseo, students had several opportunities to talk with a Nobel Prize winner outside the class. Apart from classes, some other professors joined leisure activities later on same week, such as the boat trip around the Lake Iseo. Even though the Nobel winners were probably the most expected ones beforehand, students really enjoyed the excellence of the other professors, too. All the lectures were teaching about stability after the crisis, just from a different point of view. Students had a chance to learn wide range of things from monetary policy and public economics all the way to natural resources and their optimal consumption.

Also this year three participants had the possibility to represent their own studies. The peculiarity of the Summer School is that academic activities such as lectures and discussions are combined with more relaxed opportunity to talk to Nobel Prize winners and professors outside the classroom, during the dinner and coffee breaks or even during the leisure activities. During the Summer School week students had a stupendous chance to talk about their own studies and problems they have faced in their research with one of the most prestigious Professors in Economics.

Participants were also engaged in other activities such as playing sports, swimming, canoeing, tennis; and not forgetting the memorable trip to Venice or the boat tour on the Lake Iseo. Participants had also a tour and a wonderful gala dinner at Berlucchi vineyard.
